Banning the usage of plastics

Banning the usage of plastics

Plastics are made from natural materials like cellulose, coal, natural gas, salt and crude oil through a polymerisation or polycondensation process. Forbidding plastics usage should be taken into serious consideration because it can take up to 1,000 years for plastics to decompose in landfills, to be more specific plastic bags can take 10 years and plastic bottles can take 450 years to decompose. OYLA reminds the readers to abide by the usage of paper bags and recyclable plastics. Decomposition takes place with the help of bacteria breaking down the things buried in the soil but it is impracticable in the case of PET plastics since bacteria cannot break it down. Plastics can be decomposed with UV rays from the sun; unfortunately it takes a very long time.  Numerous marine animals and mammals die due to the plastics dumped into water bodies. It is the responsibility of human beings to keep the environment clean and pollution free.
